Traveling as a Photographer

Saturday 16 December
University Bay Drive - 9am - 2 Hours
Joel Ramsey
Enhance your Travel Photos with this workshop. This course is mostly taken place outdoor and focuses on honing compositional skills specific to landscapes, cityscapes and street photography. Ideal for the frequent traveler, the photo journalist, and the photographer who just likes to take pictures anywhere, everywhere.

It can be hard with all the gear requirements, charging stations, and extra accessories sometimes but I have some tips from my time traveling North America with my camera kit, and hopefully you can give me some pointers too!

Enjoyed the session. Small group and personal attention was great. I liked that we moved around from Monona Terrace to downtown around the capital and State Street. Joel and son were great. Joel reached out to confirm prior to the meeting which also was nice.

The class really opened up my ability to do more with my camera taking it off of auto mode means I have to do a lot more work, but the more I understand the more artistic I can become.

Shot in the swimming pool of the Intercontinental Hotel in Chicago in the pool where Johnny Weissmuller ("Tarzan") trained for the 1928 Olympics. Using an Outex case, this was photographed with an iPhone 12 Pro. This shoot was part of a class on Underwater Photography at the ClickCon Photography conference in August 2023. The file was airdropped to a MacBook and edited in Lightroom to pop the color and smooth the image. That image was then transferred to Photoshop Beta where Generative AI was us

    Title or Location: Picnic Point
It's been a little while since I've planned a moon photo but, this being the blue super-moon, not to be seen anytime soon, I consulted the oracle of my smartphone, namely The Photographer's Ephemeris (TPE) app, to see where I might find a place to juxtapose some local icon with a newly risen (and thus apparently huge) moon. I live close to EPIC in Verona and looked there first but when I saw that, if I stood half-way out on Picnic Point, then the moon would be rising right behind the Capital Dom

Title or Location: Stone Bridge Park
It was recommended to my husband and I to visit Stone Bridge Park for a great view of the sunset, so decided to take a Spontaneous trip, reminding my passionate photographer self not to forget to bring my Canon along. Spent time just embracing the beautiful evening and reflecting on how grateful I am to have lived in Madison four Summers now. While my time being there, I was approached by two others, one of them very excited to jump off the dock for the first time during their Summer visiting.

The resulting standing water gives a great reflection in reverse.45mm 1/30 f4

    Title or Location: Christmas Boxer
I was testing out a new backdrop that I purchased for a family mini Christmas shoot that I have coming up. I used to make my children be my models but since they are grown Zeus, my boxer, was such a good boy and was my model. This was shot on a Canon EOS 6D with the EF 24-105mm f/4L at 24mm, ISO 320, 1/160. I used two Alien B800 strobes with white umbrellas.

At the time I was Public Relations Director and Event coordinator for Bless Keller, later to merge with Dilbeck Realtors as Director of P.R. and Special Events. When I started this event we had 3 offices and Santa and I would show up at each office for a Holiday Party and Free Santa Photos. This was a client appreciation event as well as an introduction event to our communities. Over the years we increased our locations to 14 offices. This
